High Pressure Pipework

High pressure pipework projects often include upgrades or modifications, integration of new equipment, maintenance, and commissioning procedures which must comply with the current “Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER)”.

PER covers, detailed design, material selection, material compatibility, weld qualifications and procedures, suitability for the fluid being handled, stress, corrosion/erosion considerations, gasket materials, pressure, temperature, drainage, static discharge, and much more!

During remedial work of existing piping systems it could be discovered that it no longer conforms to the latest Regulations and Standards. Risk and technical assessments must therefore be carried out to ensure appropriate control, authorisation, documentation, and management of any proposed changes.

Conformance with both PER and hygienic engineering standards has become ever more complex and companies are increasingly turning to specialist stainless steel fabricators such as Axium Process to ensure they have the necessary expertise, qualifications and experience to guarantee compliance.

Axium Process specialises in high quality hygienic pipework fabrications in non-ferrous materials, welders and weld procedures are approved to ASME IX, BS EN ISO 9606-1 and BS EN 15614-1 by an Approved Body.

Our welders have expertise using a range of materials that could typically include:

Type 304(L) SS and Type 316(L) SS austenitic stainless steels – high resistance to corrosion.  Hygienic with excellent cleanability.

MONEL – provides good resistance to sea water, aqueous sulphide, and caustic. Resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

INCONEL – provides good handling of corrosive media at elevated temperatures, general corrosion and oxidation resistance, good elevated temperature strength, good resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, and excellent corrosion resistance to caustic.

HASTELLOY B/B2 Hastelloy B – offers good resistance to reducing atmospheres at elevated temperatures and is very resistant to stress corrosion cracking.

HASTELLOY C/C276 Hastelloy C – offers good resistance to hypo-chlorites and other solutions containing free chlorine in considerable concentrations, very resistant to stress corrosion cracking.
