Axium Process celebrating 20 years of engineering excellence

Our Journey

2002

Our journey began in May 2002 when Dave and Margaret Houldsworth, pioneers of the membrane filtration company, Memtech (UK) Ltd, founded Axium Process.

Today, almost two decades later, we have a global presence manufacturing membrane filtration systems, process skids, pressure vessels and precision engineered components for multiple sector industries.

2003

Our small dynamic team quickly focussed on the growing market for custom built hygienic equipment and bespoke membrane filtration systems.  Continued success led to the creation of the company’s Membrane Filtration Division, specialising in crossflow filtration and separation technology.

2004

Growing rapidly, Axium invested in a new 10,000 square foot manufacturing facility and achieved the ISO 9001:2000 international standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS)

2006

Expanding international opportunities culminated in the appointment of our first overseas distributor for hygienic systems based in the UAE, quickly followed by our European filter agency located in the Netherlands.

2008

Axium makes headline news developing one of the first membrane wastewater recycling systems to offer a closed loop process with virtually zero effluent discharge to drain at Axminster Carpets’ Dyehouse in Devon.

2010

Stringent quality and traceability procedures allowed Axium to break into the high-technology Aerospace Industry. With AS9100 accreditation, Axium stainless and alloy components can be found on most commercial airliners in production today.

2012

Increasingly strong association with multi-national Research Institutions and Universities resulted in the supply of technically advanced pilot equipment to the world-class Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MI) in Abu Dhabi and Qatar University in Dohar.

2014

Axium completes a 1.5 million litres per day effluent treatment and clean water recovery system for ice cream giant R&R, significantly reducing discharge limitations and enabling increased production capacity at the Leeming Bar site.

2015

Ambitious re-investment plans culminated in the move to our latest 30,000sqft manufacturing facility, along with the acquisition and incorporation of Precision Engineering to complement our growing machine shop capabilities.

2018

A significant year where demand  for Containerised Systems was unprecedented. Our state of the art plug and play, trials  pilot plant was successfully launched and our engineers secured  a £1.5M contract  with a well-known Multi-National Corporation for research, development, and supply of a bespoke membrane process, separating and recovering valuable materials from wastewater that are normally lost to drain.

2021

Axium engineers came together to design and build two of our largest membrane filtration projects to date. Axium supplied a dyehouse effluent treatment plant to an industry-renowned textile company, and a complex process separation system to a leading chemical ingredients manufacturer.
