Bespoke CIP System

A well known pharmaceutical company had a requirement for a bespoke CIP system to perform sanitary cleaning operations at a new production facility in the UK. The requirement was for an automatic process capable of supplying purified water and accurately dosed quantities of detergent at a stable temperature of 50°C, for washdown purposes. The external dimensions of the mobile skid mounted system had to fit within a defined footprint in the production area.

Initially Axium put forward a budget proposal and submitted concept drawings based on a brief site survey and basic operational and specification discussions with the end user. Included in the budget proposal was a separate fixed quotation for engineering development and design.

The budget proposal was slightly above the approved CAPEX but sufficiently detailed to demonstrate Axium had a good grasp of the project requirements and the increased costs were justified. Encouraged by the level of detail and practical experience demonstrated by Axium engineers the end user opted for the full development package.

During the next few weeks the engineering development of the hygienic system was jointly refined over a series of meetings and detailed site surveys, culminating with the production of a highly detailed URS (User Requirement Specification) document specifying the target parameters. Detailed manufacturing drawings were created and the project assigned a lead engineer who would have overall responsibility for the project, meeting the target specifications, and on-time delivery.

The system was completed on schedule in the workshop at Axium and after a witnessed FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) sign-off by the end user, duly sent to the customers facility. Once there the system was installed, operators trained, and again fully tested at SAT (Site Acceptance Test) before satisfactory sign-off by the end user.
